# Control Plane Kafka

The **Kafka** interface summarizes the activities that involve Kafka and related brokers.

Follow these steps to get to the **Kafka** interface:

1. Click the **Control Plane** tab, and then the **Kafka** option in the drop-down menu.

2. The **Kafka** interface appears.
3. The **Kafka** interface is organized into the following sections:

## Use the Control Plane for Kafka

The control plane for **Kafka** has the following affordances:

1. Click  to add new panels to the interface.
2. **Overall interval**. The default is **Last 5 minutes**. Click the drop-down to use the time picker and select the appropriate time interval.

3. **Refresh display**: click  (Refresh) to update the display.
4. Use the **orgId** selector to show data from _All_ monitored organizations, or only one of them.
5. Use the **target** selector to show data from _All_ monitored targets, or only one of them.
6. Use the **namespace** selector to show data from _All_ monitored namespaces, or only one of them.
7. Use the **topic** selector to show data for _All_ Kafka topics, or select one of the topics from the drop-down.
8. Use the **partition** selector to show data for _All_ Kafka partitions, or select one of the numbered partitions from the drop-down.
