# Suppress Alert

You may have to mute various alerts in the system. To manage the resulting **suppressions**, perform these steps:

1. Click the **Alerts** tab, and select **Suppress Alert** from the drop-down menu.

2. The **Suppress Alert** report appears.

## Using the Suppress Alert interface

The **Suppressions** report has the following information and affordances:

01. Use **Search** to find a suppressed alert by name when you have a long list.

02. Review the list of currently suppressed alerts

03. **Status** of the alert.

All alerts in this list should be  (Active).

04. **Matching labels** specify the conditions (rules) that trigger the alert.

05. **Alerts** is the number of issued alerts for this alert rule.

06. **Schedule** of the muting/silence of the alert, start time through end time

07. **Expired Suppressed Alert** are alerts that were recently suppressed, and the silence expired.

08. **Status** of the alert.

All alerts in this list should be  (Expired).

09. **Matching labels** specify the conditions (rules) that triggered the expired alert.

10. **Alerts** is the number of times this alert has been issued.

11. **Schedule** of the suppressed alert, start time through end time.

12. Click  (Suppress new alert) to silence another alert; see [Suppress new alert](https://docs.kloudfuse.com/platform/3.5.0/alerts-silence/#add).

## Suppress new alert

To create a new suppress rule, click  (Suppress new alert).

The **Suppressed Alerts** interface appears. It has the following information and affordances:

1. Specify **Suppress start and end**, the time interval when you plan to silence the alert.

Use the time picker from the drop-down to specify the start of the alert.

2. Specify the **Duration** of the alert.

Note that [Suppress start and end](https://docs.kloudfuse.com/platform/3.5.0/alerts-silence/#silence-duration) and [Duration](https://docs.kloudfuse.com/platform/3.5.0/alerts-silence/#silence-duration) changes affect one another.

3. Specify **Matching labels** by creating filters defined by labels and comparison values that match silence conditions. You define these labels in the Alert rules interface, when you create a new alert.

4. To add another filter, click  (Add matcher), and specify another matching label.

5. Click  (Suppress alert) to save the silence definition.

6. Under the **Affected Instances** heading, Kloudfuse lists all alerts that were suppressed, if they match one or more of the labels. The state of all instances is  (Suppressed).

## Recreate suppress alert

To recreate a suppress alert, follow these steps:

1. Click the  (Edit) icon on the relevant row.

2. In the **Edit** interface, change the **Suppress interval** and/or **Duration**, **Matching Labels**, and click  (Save Silence) to save the silence definition.

## Individual alert suppression

You can now suppress alerts directly from the **Alerts** list view. This feature allows you to mute an individual alert based on its labels without creating a global suppression rule.

1. Go to the **Alerts** tab.

2. In the **Events** table, hover over the alert row you want to mute.

3. Click the **Suppress Alert** icon  for that label.

The alert immediately moves to the **Suppressed Alerts** list. Suppression applies only to that alert instance and its matching labels.

## Unmute alert

To unmute a currently-suppressed alert, follow these steps:

1. Click the  (Unmute) icon on the relevant row.

2. Note that the alert no longer appears in the **Suppressed Alert** list.
